Karen Kozarsky, PhD, Recognized in Philadelphia Business Journal Women of Distinction Class of 2021

SwanBio Therapeutics (SwanBio), a gene therapy company advancing AAV-based therapies for the treatment of devastating, genetically defined neurological conditions, today announced the Philadelphia Business Journal has named Karen Kozarsky, PhD, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at SwanBio, to the Women of Distinction class of 2021. Honorees will be recognized at an in-person event on November 18th and a special publication on November 19th.

“I am honored to be recognized among a group of extraordinarily talented women who are working to blaze trails in the Philadelphia community,” said Karen Kozarsky, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at SwanBio. “Through our work at SwanBio and beyond, I am proud of the steps we are taking to break barriers for women in the life science community.”

The honorees were selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal’s editors from nominations made by the public. This year’s nominations totaled more than 160.

Scientists, lawyers, educators, doctors, philanthropists – this year’s honorees come from vastly different backgrounds and professions, but they all share common qualities: leadership and vision.

In a year fraught with challenges, this tenacious group of businesswomen rose to the occasion, overcoming obstacles placed in their paths through creative thinking and ingenuity. That’s the same spirit with which they have led their entire careers.

Representing industries including banking, higher education, engineering, health care, nonprofit, aviation, biotechnology, hospitality and law, each of these women have demonstrated professional aplomb time and again.
